GVM Motors

GVM Motors

The GVM (Global Vehicle Motor) is Parker’s PMAC offering for electric and hybrid electric powertrain motors, and electro-hydraulic actuation. The GVM motors utilize highly engineered magnetics to achieve efficiencies in peak regions not obtainable in other designs. It uses a new patent-pending advanced cooling system that has minimal impact on the size and weight of the motor.

The scalability of the GVM allows the widest performance range available. Tested to the demanding heavy duty vehicle grade standards of SAE J1455 the GVM can handle the toughest jobs making it a powerful choice for both on and off-road vehicles.

• Power densities up to 4.2 kW/kg peak, 2.3 kW/kg continuous
• 24 – 800 VDC operating voltages
• Highly efficient design reduces thermal dissipation requirements
• Very low torque ripple
• Up to 20% more range for a given battery pack

When starting a vehicle motor project, In-Position Technologies engineers start by reviewing the key requirements to determine the optimum size motor for the job. They perform all necessary engineering calculations to make sure the motor performs as required, within customer specification, and without unnecessary cost. They will also recommend the appropriate controllers and drives that will best fit the application and motor.

This includes:

• Motor torque, speed, and inertia matching
• Ensuring compatibility with the motor drive and available power
• Specifying the appropriate feedback device, encoder (incremental vs. absolute), resolver, etc…
• Verifying mounting compatibility, form factor checks, etc…
• Ensuring all necessary accessories are also specified

When ordering GVM Motors as a part of a full system, IP Tech engineers review the solution to ensure:

• All parts and accessories necessary for a complete working solution are included
• All components have been checked and verified to work together as a system
• The selected components will perform as required by the project specifications
