K-Series Kit Motors
The K-Series kit motors consist of a component level stator and rotor. These motors are ideal for machine builders and OEM products requiring high-performance in a compact package, allowing for the designer to save space and cost in product and system design. Often used in direct drive applications, kit motors offer low cogging and offer improved system response. A kit motor frame size, stack length and winding type will typically be optimized to minimize the design footprint while meeting performance requirements.
Frameless kit motors are used when one or more of the following are required:
• Reduce system cost
• Minimize motor size
• High performance and reliability
• High speeds
Several Sizes available (need a different size? Contact us for other options):
• K032 – 32mm
• K044 – 44mm
• K064 – 64mm
• K089 – 89mm
• K127 – 127mm
• K178 – 178mm
• K254 – 254mm
When starting a project requiring a frameless kit motor, In-Position Technologies engineers start by reviewing the key requirements to determine the optimum size motor for the job. They perform all necessary engineering calculations to make sure the motor performs as required, within customer specification, and without unnecessary cost. They will also recommend the appropriate controllers and drives that will best fit the application and motor.
This includes:
• Motor torque, speed, and inertia matching
• Ensuring compatibility with the motor drive and available power
• Specifying the appropriate feedback device, encoder (incremental vs. absolute), resolver, etc…
• Verifying mounting compatibility, form factor checks, etc…
When ordering K-Series Kit Motors as a part of a full system, IP Tech engineers review the solution to ensure:
• All parts and accessories necessary for a complete working solution are included
• All components have been checked and verified to work together as a system
• The selected components will perform as required by the project specifications
Additional services IP Tech provides for kit motor projects:
• Custom motor housing
• Motor and feedback cable termination
• Testing and validation of the motor and feedback
